By Daclaud Lee, Project Manager / SEO Consultant at Archmore Business Web

Content sharing and discovery platform Instagram will share any public post or Reel by sharing the post’s QR code, which can be scanned to instantly access the post. Users who want to see any geo-tagged content can use their location-based search experience — located in Instagram’s settings menu — to find any business, location, or individual they want to follow. If a user wants to turn the feature on, they can test it out once currently testing is available for select accounts in the US and plans to roll it out globally for everyone.

How Do I Customize My Instagram QR Code?

These instructions are the ones currently up on Instagram's support page. Right now, you can't do this on desk top and these instructions are only for mobile.

  • Tap profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  • Tap Menu, then tap QR code.
  • To customize it, touch anywhere on the screen or tap the button at the top to try other designs.
  • Use Color to switch between different colors, Emoji to choose an emoji design or Selfie to take a photo and try on different selfie stickers.

As Easy as One, Two, Three

You can turn any Instagram reel into a QR code by adding /qr to the link and it should generate the QR code for you. People Can Scan Your QR Code and See Your Instagram and literally, it's as easy as typing in three characters at the end of your link: a forward slash, the letter q and the letter r.

Get More Followers with Your QR Code

QR Code marketing has added an interesting new strategy for businesses. This is an opportunity to create new connections by sharing content on Instagram. QRCodes are commonly used in marketing efforts but usually seen in commercial products such as magazines, brochures, and billboards. The idea of using QR codes in a marketing campaign focuses on identifying with your audience through the use of a quick response code that directs them to your social media account.

Who Uses Instagram?

While Instagram has been around for over a decade, it continues to grow in popularity. From 2019 to 2021, the number of Instagram users worldwide grew by 383 million. The platform is now used by more than half of all 18-29 year olds in the United States, which is an increase from the 38% that were on the app in 2018. In fact, according to our research, Instagram is the most popular social media platform among teens and young adults - with 44% of US teens saying this is their favorite social media site.

What Are The Age Demographics of Instagram?

Analyzing data on the distribution of Instagram users worldwide as of April 2022 can be useful for assessing targeting strategies. The most popular age bracket on Instagram is 25 to 34, which represents 31.7 percent of the total user base (Statista, 2022). The second-most popular age bracket is 18 to 24, also representing 30.2 percent of the total user base (Statista, 2022). This analysis may be an indicator that your target audience includes Instagram users in these two age ranges.

How Long Do Users Spend on Instagram?

Instagram users typically spend close to an hour a day on the platform. As a brand, it’s important to understand when and where your target audience is spending their time on social media. Instagram users spend more time on the platform than Facebook users.

The way that Instagram users are using the platform has changed since its early days. For example, they’re spending more and more time on it, especially as they become more accustomed to the Stories feature. And while most of us know that Facebook owns Instagram, they’re starting to look like quite different social media platforms. Instagram has become one of the most influential platforms in marketing and social media. Almost half of all U.S. internet users with a smartphone use Instagram (Statista, 2019) to share photos and videos with their friends and family, so it’s no surprise that there are over 200 million businesses marketing their products on the platform (Instagram, 2022). According to Instagram, as many as 70 percent of consumers turn to Instagram to find inspiration for their next purchase. Given the potential and not to mention the slew of tools available for brands to market on Instagram, not being on Instagram would be a huge missed opportunity.

How Does Instagram Stories Work?

Instagram stories have been a game-changing feature for Instagram. This feature allows users to share images and videos that disappear after 24 hours, allowing users to share more on the app. Now, 1/3 of the most viewed IG stories are made by businesses. With this being such a powerful tool for businesses, here's a post showing how you can also start using Instagram stories to build your audience.

Starting Your Instagram Business Profile

Instagram Business profiles allow you to add your business name, phone number and physical address to your profile so that potential clients can contact you directly. You’ll also have full access to analytics including impressions, reach per post and demographic information.

Every company, brand and business is unique, which means their approach to social media marketing should be unique too. Using Instagram for business is one way to give your brand a new spin on promotion. With over 1 billion daily active users and 500 million monthly active users, Instagram provides the opportunity for exposure that many businesses desperately are seeking (Instagram, 2019). When looking at what makes Instagram so attractive for brands, Instagram’s features stand out from other platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. It’s fast-paced nature, image-oriented platform and powerful advertising tools all make it an ideal option for advertisements, as well as user engagement.
