Local SEO has changed, has your SEO company changed tactics?

Google changes number of businesses to be ranked on maps. Sometime in August 2015 Google changed the number of business that it would list in the Maps section of a search. (The maps section lists businesses that reside in the same geographic area as the person doing the search) Google no longer lists 7 or more businesses in the maps section. The maximum now is 3 and sometimes fewer depending on the size of the local area. There are other changes associated with this as well that serve to increase the likelihood of someone clicking on a Google ad as opposed to free listings. #1 Your website needs to be easy to navigate – Viewers should be able to find what they are looking for. If you have a small 5 – 10 page website it is not hard to accomplish this but as your website grows it is more difficult to make the navigation intuitive. The Effectiveness of your Inbound Calls How do you measure the effectiveness of any marketing or sales campaign? One of the best ways is by counting the sales leads you get. How do you know when you get a sales lead from an ad campaign or from a website? You can do this with what we call a tracking phone number. We place a special phone number on your ad or website. This telephone number routes calls directly to your regular phone but has some special features: It tracks the caller from the caller ID It records the duration of the call It records the telephone conversation (if you want) Provides you with almost real-time access to this information online […]

Which of these Methods do you use? Ask new customers or prospects how they found you Look at how many website visits you are getting Do a couple of searches in Google and see if you are on the first page Ask Yellow Pages, Angie’s List or Whoever how they are doing for you If you are using some or all of these methods you are not getting the full story and I will tell you why. Social media has been all the rage and is not likely to go away. Therefore, it seems like the thing to do. Of all those people visiting Facebook, for example, surely some of them would see your information and decide to do business with you or visit your website. I am going to refer to Facebook a lot in this post but you can substitute any other social media platform.

The theory is, for example, if you are a family law attorney practicing in Columbus Ohio, it would help you get your website listed early in searches if you had multiple domain names each containing your specialty areas and locations.

Most people have a nice brochure on the web because that is what the guy paying for it knows about and can see. Even so, there are many sites out there that just don’t look right. Not necessarily bad just not right. As if you met someone and they wore an overcoat in the summer or wore shorts to your meeting in the winter.
